TERRIFIC TUESDAY!!!!!!!!

I think the show hit an all time low this morning.  It seems as if we were hitting on all 8 cylinders, when we got to one of my favorite bits....Are they Dead or Alive....Today was a good day as far as dead people with birthdays today....It was a Morning Guys Dream,  Lots of funny dead people!  My mistake was not positioning the dead so the bit would flow.....Before I knew it, I was talking about the late Wally Cox and before I new it I jumped to Agnes Moorehead.....Well let me tell ya, all hell broke loose....You have never seen the kids laugh so hard about two dead people they didnt even know of.......Yep,  and the timing was there for a change too.....All I remember was saying yea he's dead and then I dropped the Agnes Moorehead line, and yep....Its all about timing!  See you in the morning on 90.1FM MTROCK and http://www.mtrockradio.com/.....

What a life! Its' Time To Be Thankful......

Im not gonna lie to ya....The Holidays are depressing to me....They just are....Things always seem to go bad for me around the f#$&!g holidays.....This year Im goina  do something different.  Im going to try to reflect on the positive in my life.....Lets' see....The kids in my department got me a cake, card and song for my birthday at radio station, and early dinner with friends...positive.....Thursday, got a $100.00 check from mom for birthday....although she was pissed, because she didnt have my right address, which made it a day late, but I still got it....positive!.....On Friday I had a great show with Waffles, Bob and Guru....Then got an assignment out of the way in Production, It took 4 hours instead of 90 minutes, but we got it done and its pretty good.....positive.....Did MtSac Basketball  vs. Cerritos on local TV....positive......Saturday I was with my son and ex.....Got to watch Marc take second in the Southern Qualifier for the Central California Community College StatWrestling Championships.....He kicked ass!  HUGE POSITIVE..Got a text from my daughter saying she loved me.....BIG POSITIVE...Now we are on Sunday......Slept soundly, and got 8 hours....positive!  Cleaned my room and did some wash!....positive!
Got my mail done and paid a couple of bills.....positive.....Picked clothes for tomorrow (we are being interviewed and followed around be the LA Times tomorrow)....positive!!!!!!!

You know looking at this list....It looks like I have quite of bit to be thankful for!  Positive Yep.....Glad I was able to get that out.....Perhaps its going to be a HAPPY, HAPPY, HAPPY HOLIDAY....IM SO EXCITED!  IM GONNA HAVE A GOOD HOLIDAY...LALALALALALALALA!

just finished rest of chores and sat down to watch the raiders game.....they are down 34 to the dolphins in miami.....you know I hate the holidays........

School Daze! Radio, Television at a the Largest Community College In The Country!

Its nearly 4:00P and Im still at the radio station....The kids all think Im sick because I am still here giving them grief!  Found out last night I will be calling the MT SAC Basketball game tomorrow night on television.  After doing a newsbreak yesterday on local tv, one thing will happen for sure!  Ill be wearing make-up.  I wasnt yesterday and looked similiar to a Rand-McNally Road Atlas....Both chins were in place, but I looked like a road map around the eyes and smile lines....LA Times going to be in the studio Monday Morning, so ill probably need to go to bed about 8:30P Sunday Night so I can look refreshed for our interview and show on Monday!!!! After TV tomorrow Im headed for San Diego and Marc Wrestling at Palomar College!  Then back to LA for Football on Sunday!  Go Raiders!  Oh yea, on tomorrows show we will have a flashback Friday and play nothing but hits from the year 1968!  Listen tomorrow after 8PST on 90.1 FM MtRock and on the web @ http://www.mtrockradio.com/!   The Hits Just Keep On Comin'......

Wow! What a day! Who would of thought celebrating a birthday could be so much fun! Most of you know I do the Morning Show here in Southern California at 90.1FM MtRock...most of you also know that I am older than most of my professors, and have at least 25 years on my fellow colleagues at the largest Community College in the Country! Well today was my bday, and early morning staffers surprised me with a Card and Cake, including my boss Tammy Trujillo! The kids went as far to get me a free prostate exam from George Takei of Star Trek fame! I can't tell you how special it was, to bring in my birthday with my extended Radio Family! This was one of the most special birthdays of my life! It's cool at my age being accepted by a much younger generational family! It's very fulfilling! Maybe tomorrow I can come up with something short, witty and cutting! But today I will remain humble and thankful that I am surrounded by those I love, who love me! It's good to be Brian Matthews! Doing mornings in Southern California with the best people in the world! I am blessed!

What is an Aggie?

Sitting here in Bakerfield after a great night of High School Football, I'm sitting with my best friend pondering questions of the day....First up was "What does getting your clock cleaned really mean and where did it originate?.....Next on our list was "That's how the cow ate the cabbage?" And finally after much deliberation we were both stumped on the question "What is an Aggie?" We watched the Texas vs Texas A&M game and later the Utah State vs Nevada game and were frustrustrated the we didn't know the Texas A&M or Southern Utah's mascot. It really screwed up both games as no one was able to operate their smartphone to Google it!
Hey remember when we looked forward to Xmas and now cant wait for it to end? I'm starting to sound like Andy Rooney? Shit he's dead! That's Not Good!

THANKSGIVING IN THE VALLEY!

Ok so how does a Southern California Radio Personality at the largest Community College in the nation react to well wishers when he returns from where he has his roots....Possible Parade I thought...Perhaps Key To The City?  Free Dinner with at the fixins from the new Golden Corral down the street on Ming Avenue?  Well evidentally with all the Thanksgiving Rush my publicist evidentally didnt let the parties in Bakersfield know we were coming......You know it actually worked out great....Got to go incognito, flying under the radar.....If youre wondering how far, lets just say I havent signed even one autograph yet, so I know my plan is working....Going to Bakersfield High for football, just waiting for them to toss the coin for tonights game....You know one of those Great Guy comes home for the holidays....Imagine Me, Frank Gifford and Merle Haggard all coming back, and me getting all the attention....

About this time I wake up from my dream!

Mancave Monday!

Hi Peeps...Hope everyone had a great weekend....Got to get with family over the weekend for my Godmother Lena's 100 birthday....Being only 48, I felt very, very young amongst the geriatrics.  Had a great Basque Meal, and got to see the kids, my mom and Brother Steve.  Made it home last night to hear the tradgedy concerning Dan Whealan during the Indy Car finale in Las Vegas....Raiders Won....49ers Won....And nobody has said anything about me falling down during my football game on Friday Night....The boys were in the studio today, as we try something new on Mondays on the radio station!  Work In Progress.......Like a freeway in Los Angeles, always under construction!  Have a great day!

Monday! Monday! Monday!

Hope everybody is having a great day! A couple of weeks ago NBC'S Al Michaels stated that the Oakland Raiders would not win a Super Bowl in Al Davis' lifetime. Well now since the enigmatic owner of the Raiders' has now passed, does that me the Raiders will go to the Super Bowl this year? I refereed the Colony vs DonLugo football game on Friday Night with Colony winning...27-7...I felt more like a fight referee than Football Referee! It's nice being 5'5" so I didn't have to duck while the punches flew...This week I have Charter Oak and South Hills...both teams are ranked in the Top 10 in Southern California! Big Monday Night Game tonight Chicago plays the Undefeated Detroit Lions....Yes the undefeated Lions....Peace...we will talk again tomorrow....

Friday In The Man Cave!

Today's show was a regular hoot a nanny!  We have determind that we are going to call Fridays' Edition of the Morning Climb is going to be ManCave Friday, as my usual Co-Host Jewels is off on Friday...And it's just guys....Me (Brian Matthews), DJ Bob Vincent and Producer Waffles.  I am also bringing back theme day Friday.....On the old show, we always had a Friday Theme....Like All Chicks...British Invasion...Songs with the word Sun....And songs with Brass....Today we went with all tunes from 1987....Which means everything today I programmed was from the year 1987....I figured we can still throw in another theme, but we can always fall back on a year....Go figure some of our tunes featured Bruce Willis to The System to The Beastie Boys to The Bangles....I posted each song on my facebook and it was awesome the response....Our demo is females from 25-54....So be expecting to hear a lot of stuff between 1985-2000!  One good thing about Friday....Im hoping that stories about Nancy Grace farting will vaporize and go away....Also Steve Jobs...RIP!

Hi everybody!  Hope youre having a great day!  Here in Southern California we are a work in progress...A good work, but a work just the same!  I have audition audio and resumes out all over the Country....I am actually getting people to send me emails that  they received my stuff....Hooray!  Was up for a gig in Denver but they evidentally wanted someone taller, the gig in Spokane, somebody better looking!  Lol!  Got notice from a station in Southern Minnesota.....Yes, Minnesota!  Maybe I can save a couple of bucks and buy some long underwear!  I am by the way looking for a new place to live....I am 7 days and counting, hope I can find something quickly!  If not I will be sleeping in Studio 2....Kinda like a flashback to my younger days in radio, when I would do a 7 hour shift, and then a five hour break, and then back on the air for 5 more hours....Dont know if it was legal in the day, but I DIDNT CARE, BECAUSE I WAS ON THE RADIO!
